BAGLUNG: The Chaite Dashain fair recorded a turnover of Rs 100 million at the Baglung Kalika temple this year.

The Chaite Dashain festival in Baglung Kalika is believed to be 300 years old.

This year’s fair ended on April 18 and started on April 12. At the fair, local products including winnowing, bamboo baskets, Madal and several others were kept in the stalls.

The festival also helped make Baglung’s tourism industry vibrant as hundreds of thousands of people from across the country and even India arrived to pay tribute to Kalika Bhagawati.

The fair management committee said more than 500,000 people attended the festival.

Chairman of Baglung Kalika Bhagawati Guthi Management Committee Kumar Khadka said the fair was organized as part of continuing a 300-year-old tradition.

“This is not just limited to loss and gain, but to protect the traditional fair,” Khadka said.

Similarly, national volleyball competitions, open duet anthem competitions, shot put competitions, school level dance competitions and various other athletic tournaments were organized.
