The Glow Up jury duo on how they made it in makeup

Makeup artists Val Garland and Dominic Skinner have done it all.

Val has stuck crystals on Bj√∂rk’s face, given Lady Gaga facial expressions and covered Cate Blanchett in red paint. Meanwhile, Dom has worked on some of the most shocking make-up looks ever for the catwalks of Jean-Paul Gaultier and Dame Vivienne Westwood.

Together they are the judges on the BBC make-up competition show Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, hosted by supermodel Leomie Anderson, where they are known for their encouraging reviews and Val’s signature ‘ding dong’ catchphrase when a make-up -up- up artist does incredible work.

Now, they have shared some of their career milestone moments.

Val, who arrived in Britain from Australia in the mid-1990s, was an integral part of the British fashion boom of the time, working with icons of the era such as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano and Kate Moss.

Dom has worked with Val many times over the years and is now a global senior artist at MAC Cosmetics.
