These are the best for shopping.

If you asked me to write a love letter for any item of clothing, I would address a ten-page handwritten note to the cardigan. Not only because they are incredibly cozy and comfortable, but because they are the ultimate transitional item.

For so long we’ve associated cardigans with brooding writers sitting in dark rooms surrounded by coffee mugs, but over the years they’ve become so much more.

The typically conservative garment is now considered cool and chic and can be worn all year round with whatever bottoms you like. We can credit brands like The Row, or celebrities like Katie Holmes, with making knitwear trendy again, but if you ask me, I don’t think it’s ever gone out of style in the first place.

We’ve seen women wear it off the shoulder or with the buttons unbuttoned, exposing their cleavage and creating a more sensual vibe. Then we’ve seen others throw it on a pair of jeans and call it a day.

Despite being so different, both looks look equally chic.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the cardigans I’m loving so far, ranging from long to short.
