Brahminical Association demands justice for priest attacked in Kakinada

Kakinada: A video of an attack on a Brahmin priest while he was performing a wedding at Mulapeta village in U.Kothapalli Mandal of Kakinada district has gone viral on social media.

The incident has angered the Brahmin community, which has decided to take action against the incident. Although the incident took place ten days ago, it came to light on Sunday.

When the priest performed a wedding, a mischievous boy covered the priest’s face with an empty carrying bag. When the priest expressed his anger and continued with the ceremony, a few more youths threw turmeric and kumkum powder at him.

After the incident, the priest kept his mouth shut. But today, some of the groom’s family members posted the video on social media and it went viral. Brahminical Association leaders across the state have condemned the incident and demanded that the government take action against the migrants.

Endowment Commissioner S.Satyanarayana has directed the department officials to initiate an inquiry into the incident and take action against the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, Pithapuram police have started an investigation into the incident following a complaint filed by priest Achalla Suryanarayana Murthy.

Suryanarayana Murthy told Deccan Chronicle that the incident took place 10 days ago. U.Kothapalli police have registered a case.
