Staying Put organizes a ball in May

Staying Put, Inc. (S312 McKay Ave. PO Box 193, Spring Valley) offers a variety of non-medical volunteer services to help seniors and adults with disabilities maintain their independence in Spring Valley and Elmwood. They also offer people the opportunity to volunteer in the national tradition of ‘neighbors helping neighbors’. These services are offered free of charge, but donations are graciously accepted.

Staying Put has new consultation hours: Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Call 715-778-5800 for a complete list of services.

Transport: Staying Put offers local and non-local transport (with mileage reimbursement) for groceries, banking, pharmacy, hairdresser and medical appointments. Call 715-778-5800. Drivers needed! Mileage reimbursement possible.

Coffee Klatch: 10am-11am Monday to Friday at the Staying Put office (occasional cancellation). Enjoy a visit while enjoying fresh coffee or tea and donated treats. All clients and volunteers are welcome to drop in!

Memory Cafe: Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. This is a social gathering for older adults held from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, S520 Church Ave., SV. Come and share your memories with a friend. Enjoy and share stories, enjoy coffee, tea and treats, everyone is welcome. For information or a ride, call Staying Put at 715-778-5800.

Strong Bodies fitness sessions: Co-sponsored by Pierce County ADRC. The classes are held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesdays and Fridays in the SV Dorpshuis. Call to register at 715-778-5800.

New foot care clinic! Registered Nurse Rochelle Boos will clip toenails and reduce calluses and corns in the Staying Put Office on May 6 and 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call for cost information and an appointment at 715-559-6077 or 715-778-5800.

Bird watching presentation: Lifelong birder Cathy Oliphant will speak at the SV Community Center on May 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. This is a preview of the June 6 Bird Viewing Walk.

Senior ball: Dance with Bob Town Boys, refreshments and visitation from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM on May 15 at the SV Community Center. The coronation of the senior royals of Spring Valley and Elmwood will then take place. You must sign up for a chance to win royalties.

Bingo, Wednesday, May 1 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Staying Put Office.

Craft Day, Wednesday, May 8 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the Staying Put Office. A decorative plate to make and take with you.

Match day, 1-3pm Wednesday, May 29 at the Spring Valley Community Center. Games and fun. Call 715-778-5800 to register.

Monthly birthday party, 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 22, Staying Put Office. Volunteers and customers with a birthday in April, come by for treats, games and prizes!

Music at Valley Villas: The public is invited to live music at Valley Villas Assisted Living from 12:30pm to 1:00pm on May 21.
