The bride wore four different dresses designed by her mother-in-law for her wedding in San Miguel de Allende

In June 2023, Mauricio proposed to Mariel in Capri, Italy. Mauricio, Silvia Tcherassi’s chief operating officer, had pretended they were visiting the island to view the brand’s recently opened boutique. Secretly he had a ring in his pocket. “I had played it off like it was just another business trip and so Mariel had absolutely no idea,” he says. “We got up very early and went to a spot that I had chosen as ‘the spot’ a few days earlier because it had the best view of the Faraglioni. There I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me,” he says. Then they took a boat to the Amalfi Coast, where they enjoyed a late, romantic lunch at Conca del Sogno. They returned to Capri for sunset and dinner at the Hotel Caesar Augustus.

Less than a year later, the two held a three-day wedding in San Miguel de Allende, planned by Mauricio Kirschner of House of Kirschner. “Mexico offers such a unique culture and we both feel a deep connection with it,” says Mauricio, noting that it is also Mariel’s home country. “San Miguel de Allende had always interested us both – it really is a magical place and given the size and prominence that comes with being a small town, we loved that all our guests would be close to each other.”

Mariel carried Silvia Tcherassi all the time. For their welcome party at the historic Instituto Allende art school, she opted for a custom floor-length white dress, paired with custom gold Gia Borghini boots embroidered with their wedding date. (The stylish yet sensible footwear came in handy as the evening quickly turned into a dance party with DJ from Mauricio himself.) The next day, she wore a pink sequin dress and an Olympia Le Tan clutch for a cocktail party at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende.

On Saturday, Mariel walked down the aisle in a large, backless halter dress with floral appliqués at Hacienda Luna Escondida. “I loved my wedding dress almost as much as the process of creating it. Silvia showed me beautiful haute couture samples that I immediately fell in love with and as soon as the fabric arrived she started working on it,” says Mariel. “Throughout the process she emphasized that the dress had to look good from every angle, which I obviously really appreciated. She studied images of where the wedding would take place and took everything from the lighting to the natural landscape into account when designing my dress.” Mauricio waited for her at the altar in a Dior suit and gold cufflinks that once belonged to his grandfather.
